A Cardboard Box!

Miles turned 3. While it’s never easy to get just the right present for anyone at any age, I found some car pretend play stickers at http://eeboo.com.   These reusable plastic coated stickers featured 4 large pages of a steering wheel, tires, lights, pedals, bumper stickers, windshield wipers, lots and lots of dials, and even a cup holder.

Finding the box was a little trickier. Target didn’t have one to buy but one of the staff unpacking storage bins let me have one. It was vertically ordered but I just trusted that I could figure out a way to make it a car.

When I got to Miles’ house he was fascinated by the cardboard. Fairly swiftly I folded and taped it into a car shape. Then Miles and I started in on sticking the stickers.

Miles and I discussed which and where to stick the stickers, and he climbed in and out, and was truly happy for nearly a full hour.

It was a wonderful birthday gift for him, and a truly happy hour for me.

Now here’s another one of those remarkable coincidences. Tad Hills, a friend and author/illustrator/creator of a series of toddler books about Duck and Goose, appeared at Books Are Magic to launch his latest Duck and Goose book: A Gift for Goose.

Guess what is inside the colorful box? What could possibly be better than a colorful box?

Thank you again and again Tad Hills
