Diane Dillon has created a truly wonderful picture book I Can Be Anything, Don’t Tell Me I Can’t. ‘This book is dedicated to discouraging the frightened, negative little voice in our heads that keeps us from being all we can be.’ That’s IT!

This encouraging book is for all of us. Her child thinks about being a bird, a space traveller, a vet, an artist, astronomer….a president. But she is put off by a negative voice that challenges her determination, her fantasy, her creativity.

My 4 ½ year old grandson loves this book. He and Emma read it frequently and go through the list of possibilities of jobs he might do. They talk about being an oceanographer, farmer, explorer, healer, poet, geologist, judge, zookeeper. What will your child be? As long as that negative little voice is ignored your child

CAN be ANYTHING.

Diane launched this gorgeous book at Books Are Magic on February 25th. She showed us what her childish drawings looked like. With no neck and no torso, her person is all head, hair, arms and legs.

Besides the books she signed for her audience, she autographed copies for the rest of you. Here are some photos from that splendid day!
