The Fire Chief
Story by Susan Straub
Pictures by Andrea Porretta
Published 2019

Here is my first self-published book, The Fire Chief. Initially written for my Fire Fighter obsessed grandson Sebastian.

This book tells of a brief expedition to the local firehouse shared by a grandmother and her Fire Chief grandson. When a real fire breaks out, these two follow the fire engine and watch from a safe distance. The fire fighters successfully put out the fire, and rescue a cat. It is a wonderful shared adventure for both Grandmother and Grandson.

Andrea Porretta, an illustrator working in Brooklyn, gives the brief story the most exceptional, professional, and loving illustrations. Her illustrations make the book a REAL picture book.

Here we are! Susan and Andrea, the very pleased author and illustrator, at the Books Are Magic Mural.

This is 3 year old Sebastian Straub reading The Fire Chief with Susan.

Here is Sebastian giving an autographed copy to the Fire Station in Los Angeles he knows and loves best.

We had a beautiful time reading at Books Are Magic on January 18th! The place was full of families and friendship and fun!
