We New Yorkers enjoy the privilege of being near wonderful independent bookstores. The owners organize book programs to inspire, entertain, and honor the splendid authors and illustrators of the children’s book world.
These author/illustrator events are wonderful opportunities to meet the gifted people who wrote the words and drew the pictures you share with your children. If you’ve never been to an event like this before, definitely come. If you typically attend, keep on coming.
For those of you first timers, remember that not every young child will be able to sit still for more than a few minutes. Be prepared to have your little one play with a car, or toy, while absorbing something of the fun of watching an artist draw pictures.
